Celebrated throughout the world, Cuban-Canadian jazz artist, Hilario Durán was named one of "The 10 Most influential Hispanic Canadians." The pianist, arranger, producer, composer, bandleader, and educator has had an immeasurable impact on the Toronto jazz scene. Durán attended Cuba's Amadeo Roldan Conservatory for formal training after which he served for nine years in the band of legendary trumpeter Arturo Sandoval as pianist, arranger, and musical director.
Since immigrating to Canada in 1998, Robi Botos has made significant contributions to Canada’s jazz scene. Born into a musical family in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, the primarily self-taught Botos began his musical career when he was a child growing up in Budapest, playing drums and percussion with his father and two brothers. It was at age seven when Robi first took up piano, the instrument that he has since mastered and with which he has made his mark.
A piano concert that will engage and enthral audiences!
The performance is sponsored by Steinway Piano Gallery.
