Mary Pratt is one of Canada’s favourite painters. Her work has appeared in numerous group and solo exhibitions and has been reproduced in magazines, on the covers of books, and on postage stamps and posters.
She is a Companion of the Order of Canada, an honorary life member of the Society of Canadian Artists, and Honorary Fellow of the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. She holds nine honorary degrees from Canadian universities and has been inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador Hall of Honour.
Mary Pratt has been the subject of several books and documentaries and is the author of a collection of writing on art and life entitled A Personal Calligraphy. Her paintings are featured in many prominent public, corporate and private collections, including those of the National Gallery of Canada, The Rooms, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and Canada House in England.
Mary Pratt lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where she continues to paint and write.
