A Modernist Approach to Colour, with Martha Eleen
Saturday, November 22 to Sunday, November 23 (2 classes)
10 am to 4:30 pm
This process-based painting course investigates the role of colour in the structure of a composition. Participants will produce a series of studies to use as resources for a larger work. The exhibition Morrice and Lyman in the Company of Matisse will be used as a point of discussion to examine how artists use colour to create spatial relationships when approaching subjects such as still-lifes and the figure.
Martha Eleen is an honours graduate of the Emily Carr College of Art and Design, Vancouver. Her paintings have been exhibited in public galleries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
