Part of Curatorial Lectures and Tours
A unique opportunity for McMichael members to gather together and discuss the historical background of the engagement between the McMichael and the Cape Dorset artistic community, as well as future plans regarding Inuit art at our gallery, with two Inuit exhibition curators. Susan Gustavison is curator of Whales’ Tails and Other Tales: Cape Dorset's Pudlat Family and former McMichael curator of Inuit and First Nations art involved in several exhibitions based on the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative collection. Sharona Adamowicz-Clements is the McMichael’s curator behind the exhibition Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? Identity in Contemporary Cape Dorset Art. The encounter will be facilitated by Victoria Dickenson, Executive Director at the McMichael. Following the encounter, docents will be available for comments in the new exhibitions’ spaces.
