ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Our Home and Native Land Canadian Masterpieces to be Shown in Washington
May 4, 2007 Kleinburg, ON – On May 22, 2007 the McMichael Canadian Art Collection holds its fifth annual fundraising reception at the beautiful Carlu on Yonge, providing guests with the opportunity to view, for one night only, an exhibition of magnificent works of art from the gallery’s collection. Following the showing at the Carlu, this exhibition of masterpieces from the McMichael’s permanent collection will travel to Washington D.C. for display at the Canadian Embassy.
The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is privileged to welcome as its special guest this evening, The Honourable Michael Wilson, Canadian Ambassador to the United States.
Titled Our Home and Native Land, the exhibition opens at the Embassy on July 4, 2007, and will provide our American neighbours with an opportunity to view – perhaps for the first time – works by many of Canada’s best-known artists whose art reflects the artistic and cultural heritage of our country.
100% Canadian at the Carlu, which will be held at the Carlu on Yonge at College Street, (444 Yonge Street, 7th floor), begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Funds raised at this event are in support of the McMichael’s outstanding educational programmes and exhibitions.
Tribute Communities and RIO CAN Real Estate Investment Trust are the Presenting Sponsors for the evening. The Event Sponsors are AON Reed Stenhouse, Mario Cortellucci and Family, C.A. Delaney Capital Management Ltd., McLean Budden, and Rogers Communications. The Honourary Patrons are David Braley, Mario Cortellucci, Linda Frum, the Honourable Frank Iacobucci, Mayor Linda Jackson, Kin-Man Lee, the Honourable Bev Oda, MP, the Honourable David R. Peterson, MP, PC, OC, Melinda Rogers, Michael Sifton, Howard Sokolowski, Ed Sonshine, the Honourable Greg Sorbara, MPP, and the Honourable Belinda Stronach, MP
Combining the best in Canadian art, food and drink, the 100% Canadian at the Carlu reception is expected to be a sold-out affair with many political, corporate, and other notable personalities in attendance.
“We are delighted to welcome the Honourable Michael Wilson to this event,” said Noreen Taylor, Chair of the McMichael Board of Trustees. “We sincerely hope he will enjoy this evening’s exhibition, which provides a preview of Our Home and Native Land, the exceptional exhibition we are so proud to present at our Canadian Embassy in Washington.”
