Canadian Artists Show & Sell Their Work: October 20th weekend
McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s 16th Annual Autumn Art Sale
October 11, 2006 … The vibrant palette of the Ontario fall is a perfect backdrop for one of the highlights of this glorious season in Kleinburg. More than 60 Canadian artists will display and sell their unique artworks at the 16th Annual Autumn Art Sale organized by the McMichael’s Volunteer Committee. The Sale will be held at the McMichael on October 20th, 21st and 22nd.
This annual event brings hundreds of people to the gallery over the course of three days. Almost every square inch of public space within the building is needed to showcase this giant art sale. A grand opening preview is planned for 6 p.m. on Friday October 20th with delicious complimentary appetizers, a cash bar, live music, and free parking and entrance to the gallery for guests. SEVEN, a full- service, licensed restaurant will be catering the Friday night event and will be open throughout the weekend to serve art lovers.
The preview begins at 6 p.m. with the actual sale beginning an hour later. The sale on this evening closes at 10 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday of this weekend, the Art Sale will be ongoing between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
This event features established and emerging artists from across Canada showing works in a variety of media, styles and price ranges. Last year's sale was the gallery’s most successful to date. Seventy artists were selected from almost 200 applicants, and sales reached close to $60,000.
The annual Autumn Art Sale is the Volunteer Committee’s primary fundraiser in support of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s programming. This year the monies raised will be used in support of children’s programming including ArtVenture, the McMichael’s summer art camp. Past and continuing contributions have been made to the Sunday Concert Series at the gallery as well as to such other projects as upgrading the gallery’s theatre.
The 16th Annual Autumn Art Sale has received support from its Presenting Sponsor Multimedia Nova Corporation and from the following: Magnotta Winery; Savour Vaughan; SEVEN Restaurant and Catering; and World Source Management.
