We are currently recruiting for a full time Controller in our Finance and Accounting department.
The Controller, engages in a range of administrative, management, and professional accounting work in support of the gallery’s operations in accordance with current accounting principles.
Reporting to the Director, Finance and Operations, the Controller is responsible for coordinating and managing the accounting functions to ensure financial data is accurate and timely in the preparation of financial reports and statement for the McMichael Collection and the Foundation.
The Controller ensures the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger and manages the functions of Accounts Receivable, Payable, and Payroll for the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
5 years Accounting management experience, with an understanding of not-for-profit accounting. A professional certification in accountancy, i.e. Certified General Accountant or Certified Management Accountant, completed or underway, is required. The successful candidate will have had experience processing Ceridian Insync Payroll, and have a familiarity with any of Sage Accpac, Vista, CIVICRM, Lightspeet, and/or Smart Vendor computer applications.
In addition to strong analytical and reporting skills, the Controller must have excellent organizational, time management and communication (oral and written) skills with a broad knowledge of computer applications (including advanced Excel).
